At the meeting, the inspection team presented an overview of
the project, highlighting the role and advantages of having a Nuclear Science
and Technology Research Center built, which then would impact the development
of local science and technology and the development of other fields in Long
Khanh city, Dong Nai province as well as the region as a whole. The team also
clarified the safety of the project, environmental protection and nuclear
safety.
The team visits the proposed
construction zone of the project
The Nuclear Science and Technology Research Center contains
a main component of a small-capacity nuclear reactor to produce radioactive
isotopes for medical and industrial purposes; and to irradiate doped silicon
with neutrons to produce semiconductors. Completing the project will shape Long
Khanh city as the second center of Vietnam after Da Lat city in the nuclear
medicine development scene.
