The research objective of the project is to perfect the
technique of growing
Michelia tonkinensis A. Chev. on protective contracted forest land to
increase income in Dong Nai province. In particular, the specific goal is to
identify Michelia
tonkinensis A. Chev. varieties suitable for planting on contracted
forest land in Dong Nai province; proposing appropriate methods to propagate Michelia tonkinensis A. Chev.
and methods to plant them on contracted forest land; assessing the
growth and stability of the plants’ populations on contracted forest land; developing
techniques for breeding and growing Michelia
tonkinensis A. Chev.
According to the project leader, in order to have a
scientific basis to evaluate the ability to adapt and grow, the project is
expected to build experimental models for breeding and growing Michelia tonkinensis A. Chev.
on an area of 4.5 hectares.

It is known that currently the Tan Phu Protection Forest
Management Board is managing over 18 thousand hectares of forest, of which the
forested area covers over 17.4 thousand hectares (including over 13.3 thousand
hectares of natural forest and over 4 thousand hectares of afforestation).
Panel members agreed to allow the project to be conducted,
but some of its contents need to be edited properly.
