Solutions to community trademarks proposed and reviewed

On the morning of October 17, 2025, Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology, Mr. Vo Hoang Khai, chaired a meeting with relevant departments, agencies, communes, and wards to review and propose solutions to certification marks, collective trademarks, and geographical indications due to the reorganization of administrative units.

The Department of Science and Technology of Dong Nai province states that the review results show that the number of certificates requiring amendment is 12, including: collective trademarks: 7 certificates, certification marks: 2 certificates, and geographical indications: 3 certificates. The number of certificates requiring re-issuance in case of loss is 4 certificates.
According to the plan proposed by the Department of Science and Technology, the principle for handling collective trademarks, certification marks, and geographical indications after the reorganization of administrative units follows the guidance of the Intellectual Property Office in Official Letter No. 3228/SHTT-PCCS dated August 14, 2025.
The meeting agreed on the management of community trademarks in the province, specifically as follows: 3 geographical indications managed by the People's Committee of Dong Nai province are expected to be granted to the Department of Agriculture and Environment for the management of pomelo and rambutan geographical indications; Dong Nai Department of Science and Technology will be responsible for the cashew geographical indication.
For certification marks, Dong Nai Department of Science and Technology manages the Binh Phuoc Rubber Trademark; the People's Committee of Tan Phu commune manages the Tra Co Green Prawn certification mark. Regarding collective trademarks: The Dong Nai Provincial Farmers' Association handles 4 collective trademarks (including: Loc Thinh PEPPER, Cam My Durian, Loc Ninh PEPPER, and Long Khanh Wood Ear Mushroom); the Gia Kiem Commune Farmers' Association is responsible for the Gia Kiem Water Spinach collective trademark; and the An Loc Ward Farmers' Association manages 2 collective trademarks (Thanh Luong - Binh Long Free-range Chicken and Thanh Luong Binh Long Longan).
