On the morning of March 31, a conference to implement, propose, and commission science and technology tasks to serve the development of research plans and the summarization of practical experiences in Dong Nai province for the 2026-2030 period was held at the Department of Science and Technology (DoST). Mr. Pham Van Trinh, Provincial Party Committee member and Director of DoST, chaired the conference. Attendees included leaders of provincial departments and agencies, representatives of communes and wards, institutes, universities, and research centers within and outside the province, and a large number of scientists.

“The conference was organized to realize key objectives in thoroughly understanding priority directions and unifying awareness of key areas of research and application of science and technology to assist socio-economic development in accordance with the Resolution of the 1st Provincial Party Congress; ensuring continuity and breakthroughs, evaluating the transition of scientific and technological research and innovation results already implemented, and identifying new urgent tasks for 2026 and the vision to 2030; thereby enhancing the role of State management and strengthening the connection between government, scientists, and businesses," noted Mr. Pham Van Trinh in his opening remarks. The leader of DoST requested that managers and scientists focus on discussing, reviewing, and proposing science and technology tasks closely relevant to areas underthe sectors’ and units’ management. The proposals need to ensure urgency, feasibility, and address practical problems of the province such as: smart cities, high-tech industrial development, logistics, digital economy, smart agriculture, and airport city management, etc. Attendees and scientists at the conferenceAccording to Mr. Dam Van Toan, Head of the Office of Science and Technology (under DoST), based on the compilation of proposals and orders for science and technology tasks in 2026, the total number of proposed and ordered science and technology tasks is 182. Among these, 128 tasks were proposed by units, organizations, and research institutes; and 54 tasks were ordered by departments and sectors based on development requirements. Of the total 182 proposed tasks, there are 28 tasks in the field of natural sciences; 62 tasks in engineering and technology, 12 tasks of medical and pharmaceutical science, and 34 tasks in agricultural science. There are 46 tasks in the field of social sciences and humanity. Regarding the key priorities for scientific research, technology, and innovation in the 2026-2030 period, Director Pham Van Trinh requested that departments, agencies, localities, and scientific and technological institutes, universities, and organizations closely follow the guidelines, programs, and plans of the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee on research and application of science and technology in the coming period. This will focus on key areas such as: digital technology and smart ecosystems; high-tech and semiconductor industries; green economy and climate change adaptation; high-tech agriculture and airport cities and so on. Attendees at the conference focused on discussing and generating ideas and proposals for scientific research tasks that are relevant to real-life situations and aligned with Dong Nai province’s imminent goal of becoming a centrally-governed city.
