Progress of a community tourism development project checked

On September 26, the monitoring delegation of the Department of Science and Technology of Dong Nai province inspected and evaluated the grassroots science and technology task, the project “Community Tourism Development in Binh Phuoc Province”. The project was chaired by Binh Duong University, which is led by Prof. Dr. Cao Viet Hieu.

According to the Project Management Board, the project is currently following the proposed contents and requirements; building seven thematic reports; organizing learning experiences on community tourism development; conducting surveys, organizing training and building a community tourism model in five ethnic households in Bu Gia Map commune associated with the implementation of occupations such as weaving, making rice wine, traditional cuisine, etc. To keep up with the actual situation after the merger, the project manager also proposed to change the project name.
During the field inspection at households implementing the model, the Inspection Team recognized the workload that the Project Management Board had done, and also required the project manager to complete the progress report. There was a commitment to bind the responsibilities of participating households to the local authorities to build a sustainable community tourism model, creating the tourism product diversity of the province.

The main goal of the project is to research, propose and implement a pilot model of community tourism of the S'tieng people and other ethnic groups in Binh Phuoc, in order to bring economic, cultural and environmental benefits to the local community.
The specific goal is to study the current situation and evaluate the potential for community tourism development in Binh Phuoc, focusing especially on surveying and analyzing community tourism operation of the S'tieng people and other ethnic groups such as the Khmer, Mnong, and Kinh; develop a comprehensive set of criteria to clearly identify necessary factors such as economy, culture, environment, etc. to create a successful community tourism model; and implement a pilot project in Bu Gia Map, train and deploy activities to promote the community tourism model, aiming to create long-term economic, cultural and environmental benefits for the local community.
